POMIFRAI FRUTICULTURA S.A. started its business in 1933, under the name of René Frey and Brother S.A. Its founders, René and Arnoldo Frey, were also the colonizers of the city of Fraiburgo. With the end of the Brazilian economic wood cycle, a new alternative for the region’s development, one that would meet the job market demands, had to be sought.
After 12 years of research with 525 species of different temperate climate fruits, it was agreed that apple would be an easily adaptable fruit to the climatic conditions of the region. The year was 1973. With the success of the new activity, the company closed down its former businesses, wood processing and cattle raising, dedicating itself exclusively to the apple production.
